Tecnológico de Monterrey makes a concerted effort to offer courses
that provide you, the international student, with a greater
understanding of Mexico’s culture and way of life. Our faculty is
sensitive to your specific needs and does its best to guide you
academically as well as socially and culturally.
From beginning to advanced, students come to Monterrey to study
Spanish and immerse themselves in a program that encourages and
facilitates the learning of the language. Professors with graduate
degrees, and a true vocation for teaching languages, work diligently
to help you become a fluent Spanish speaker.
The Center of Spanish as a Foreign Language
at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Monterrey
Campus, has been recognized as an
Associated Center by the Instituto Cervantes.
This assures that you are:
- Taking quality Spanish courses.
- Learning from an experienced teaching staff with extensive training
backgrounds.
- Receiving a teaching plan designed to help you achieve significant
progress.
Even if you don’t speak Spanish, you might consider taking a beginners
course in Spanish (as described below). This way, you may learn
enough of the language to help you get around campus while you’re
here in Mexico.
In order to ensure that you’re registered for courses that meet your
language skills, Tecnológico de Monterrey provides an online Spanish
Placement Test to assess your level.
a) SPANISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Improve your Spanish speaking skills with courses designed to teach
non – native speakers. Taught only in Spanish, this is a powerful
program designed to help you speak the local language quickly and
easily. Courses are available from basic to advance levels. Also find
specialized courses on Spanish for Specific Purposes in the following
areas : Business, Medicine, Academic Purposes, Community Assistance,
Cultural Manifestations, Spanish Heritage Students.
You’ll benefit from the experience of interacting with native speakers
– one of the best ways to learn a language – on topics taken form
real-life current events. Explore activities that enhance you oral,
written, and reading comprehension skills.
b) MEXICAN CULTURE
From the Mayan ruins to the modernization of Mexico, discover the
country’s fascinating culture and history as you explore its indigenous
civilizations and how waves of European immigration affected it.
Available in English or Spanish, choose from an array of engaging
courses. During the summer, Tecnológico de Monterrey offers The
Mayan Route Program, an itinerant program that will take you to
different cities in the south part of Mexico while taking classes in
Spanish and Culture.
c) BUSINESS IN MEXICO
Mexico plays a vital role in the global business community. Courses
in this area will helps you understand the varied cultures and values
held by different trading partners – an essential component for
successful negotiating in the international business world. Available
in English and Spanish (Intermediate level).
