Highlights

• If you have a laptop, it will be very useful if you bring it with you. Tec´s educational model requires the use of a computer, so a laptop will be very useful to do all your homework and assignments.

•  It is very important that before you come to Mexico you check the immigration and medical insurance section inside the International Student Handbook.

•  If you are planning to look for you own accommodations, we strongly recommend you arrive to Monterrey before the official arrival days to help facilitate your search. As well, we recommend visiting the following web site:

•  Make sure that your visa is stamped by an authorized immigration officer when you enter the country (Regardless or whetherit is a Student or a Tourist visa). If you fall to doing this, you will be fined when you register your visa or when you change your status. The stamp must show the day you entered the country and, in case you are requesting a tourist visa, the number of days the visa will be valid. We recommend that you ask for at least a 30 day tourist visa or, if you are planning to travel around Mexico before settling in Monterrey , a 60 day tourist visa. In any case, DON´T FORGET TO GET YOUR STAMP.

•  Calling home from Mexico will be expensive specially if you won't own a telephone line in Mexico . You can always buy prepaid calling cards, but this option is very expensive. We strongly recommend that you bring your own calling card system from home in order to avoid expensive calls. We recommend this option even if you are living with a host family in Mexico since making local and long distance calls are not included in the family program and some families might restrict the use of the phone.
