Health Care Insurance
I. Tec’s Health Care Policy
Tecnologico de Monterrey has very strict policies on health care. At your arrival in Monterrey, you must show evidence of comprehensive coverage. To do this, you need to show a copy of either of the following documents:
- Letter from the insurance company stating your health care coverage for the complete time of your stay in Mexico
- A copy of your health care insurance card.
At your arrival you will have to give a copy of your insurance card to the staff of the International Programs Office. You will have until the first friday after classes begin to show the proof of your insurance, otherwise you will be automatically charged Tecnologico de Monterrey Insurance.
• Your insurance must be valid since the Official Arrival Day until the Last day of final exams, please refer to the calendar section.
• Your Medical Insurance must cover least 250,000 USD in coverage for Accidents and illness, Medical Evacuation for at least 7,500 USD and Repatration of Remains of at least 7,500 USD.
Otherwise, you will be required to buy this insurance at Tecnológico. Information, this cost is included in your acceptance package on the estimated budget section.
Remember: Tec’s insurance policies requires for international students to be covered for the following situations:
- Medical Evacuation (no less than 7,500USD)
- Repatriation of remains (no less than 7,500USD)
II. Health care insurance offered by Tecnologico de Monterrey
If you decide to buy the health care insurance recommended by Tecnológico de Monterrey, you must go directly to the insurance company SETMEX located in Pabellon Tec 1st Floor (# 29 in Campus Map). Its duration will depend on the day you buy it and the day you decide to leave Mexico. Remember if you plan to buy this insurance you will have to do it before orientation week ends since you will have to hand in a copy of your insurance during the payment session in order to be fully registered at Tecnologico de Monterrey. Here is what the insurance cover's:
